Every painting company says they can stain, but many have failed. A sign of a "bad stain job" is a non-uniform sheen level or a "blocky" looking stain pattern. Stain when applied correctly should look uniform with minor wood variations. Whether it be newly installed trim, a built-in cabinet or an entire room such as a library, MTO Painting, Inc. can stain the surfaces to make them look incredible. Have you ever driven down the road and looked at a house that looks like it has vertical or horizontal stripes on it that are not the siding material. Well, the reason you see this is because it is the lap marks from someone who stained the house and they were not aware of the proper technique to stain the house. MTO Painting, Inc. has stained hundreds of house over the years and we have been able to watch the aging of many of the homes, and they age beautifully. All stained houses look good when they are just completed, the proof is 4 years down the road. Stain is desiged to "wear away" over time, so during the wearing away period the evidence of how the job was done becomes clear. Powerwashing is the beginning stages of all exterior work. All surfaces must be clean prior to painting. Powerwashing is not as simple as it appears. Most powerwasher's have pressures of at least 1000 PSI (pounds per square inch) and some can have as much as 5,000 PSI. This amount of pressure can do substantial damage to wood and in some cases destroy the surface. Through proper training and experience, we are able to powerwash wood, stone, metal surfaces (siding, decks, patios) without damage. Once a surface is powerwashed it looks clean and will allow paint/stain products to adhere properly to the surface.
Unfortunately, it is a dying art. Since we work in many homes that have plaster walls and ceilings, we had several of our staff trained by world-renowned "The Plaster Man" Robin Raymer- From hairline cracks to sagging ceilings to working with plaster and lath, MTO Painting, Inc. is an expert at restoring your plaster surfaces. Due to our diverse experience with different types of plaster we are even able to apply veneer plasters on top of blue board or if you have a need, we can apply a three coat plaster system.
Repair and replacment of sheetrock due to water damge, angry teenage kids, changing of lights or electrical outlets, or whatever reason you may have a hole/damge in your sheetrock, can be easily repaired by our skilled painters. We are even able to sheetrock a new room if you wish. The proper taping and spackling of the sheetrock will assure a beautiful look when finished painting. Wallpaper removal is often one of the biggest headaches in surface preparation. If not done properly it can cause substantial wall damage or even full wall destruction. In some cases wall damage is inevitable, but using tested techniques we are able to remove wallpaper effiecently and carefully, which minimizes the effort/cost to repair the surface after the paper is removed. We have hung many different types of wallpaper successfully. We are experienced at hanging vinyls, european paper, hand printed/painted papers, fabrics and silks. We hang wallpaper according to the manufacturer's reccomendations. If required/requested we are willing and encourage using lining paper. Using lining paper will assure proper adhesion to the surfaces while minimizing shrinking. As with many things, successful wallpaper hanging requires proper preparation prior to hanging. Since we are experience paper hangers (our paper hangers are ONLY paper hangers, not painters disguised as paper hangers) we know how to properly prepare surfaces to allow the paper to last and look the way you intended.
MTO Painting, Inc. cares about the entire house and the structural condition. A sound house will extend the life of the paint project. Applying paint over deteriorated wood will only cause a pre-mature failure of the paint. Repairing the wood with new wood, engineered products (such as Azek) or if it is a historical home with approved restoration techniques, can prolong the beauty and durability of the painted surfaces. During our preparation stage, if an area is identified as being damaged, we will notify you of the issue. At that point we will make the appropriate suggestion of proper repair. If requested, we can provide you with a written estimate and we would gladly make the repairs with our own staff carpenters. We will not apply good paint over bad surfaces, or ignore problems in previous workmanship.
